The High School Business Symposium is an annual event for high school students, designed to promote career awareness among juniors and seniors. The Chamber brings in successful individuals from the community to address the students on work ethic, making mistakes and recovering from them, what is expected in the workplace, following one's inner calling, and choosing a career in which they can be happy and productive citizens.
We typically offer the Myers-Briggs test, a tool used to assess personality types, which is very popular with the students, and useful for them as they examine the environment in which they would most want to work. Students also learn about the skills needed locally and the many opportunities available in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County for them to find employment and life-long fulfillment in their work.
